Intro:

Hello, for this blog I will be talking a bit about what has kept me away from the blog. As the last few weeks have been amazing but hectic. A few of you may be aware of my recent move into an office space, I am now based out of Therapy Station in Hinckley where I work on my novels, reviews, blogs and do some light reception work for the lovely owners.

I have also been working on doing some radio reviews for a local station: Castle Mead Radio that run out of Hinckley Hospital. I will be doing a weekly Podcast show for them where I will review what I think to be the best of the Indie Authors and their novels. This will start from the 7th November (Friday) and continue on for every Friday after that.

What does all of this mean?

Well, in short it means that I can help authors in several different ways. I can help my fellow authors by doing reviews (as long as you are Indie or via a small independent publisher).

It also means that I can keep you up to-date with all the latest treatments and therapies available through Therapy Station, so if you are in the Leicestershire area and are looking to relax, de-stress, or you have a pain problem then Therapy Station is somewhere you want to be.

To submit your work for review (The first five reviews have been set, however I am looking to review a few books aimed at under eighteens), then please email me at l.mullerworth@gmail.com for more details.

Should you want more information about Therapy Station, their treatments and products then please email me at info@therapystation.co.uk

Over the coming weeks and leading up to Christmas I will keep you updated on any and all deals, quote “Author Spot” in the email so we know where you found out about Therapy Station.

Thanks again guys!

Finding Inspiring People, Simply Inspirational!

black and white meI am actually struggling to name this one, if I am being totally honest, I am not 100% sure what it is about. Over the last couple of months I have been in contact with some extraordinary people, all of whom are local. They have all been striving for similar goals; most are self-employed; granted in some very different fields of work. But, they all help each other and find ways to work with one another making themselves and our local community so much stronger.

When I stepped in I thought to myself, I am an author… What could I possibly have to offer them? I forgot one of the key things in cross marketing. I need locations to do events, and the local cafes, like the fabulous Coffee Rio need a draw to bring in foot-traffic, so on, so forth. I need gimmick food, there is a fabulous bakery called Buttercream Bakery who can supply that, and in return they get sales, recognition and repeat business, as do Coffee Rio…

However all this transcends mere business arrangements, I have had so much support emotionally from everyone there and I could not begin to tell you what an incredible group of people I have stumbled upon. I don’t mind admitting that public speaking is not my strong point, but there I am in a safe environment where I can hone that skill and learn how to deal with it.

I walked into Networking hoping that it would help me make sales and meet some good connections and people, but doubting that it was where I needed to be. I have never been so wrong… If you find the right group to network in, like I have with Love Hinckley and The Atkins Networking Group Hinckley, they sky is the limit on what you can achieve.

I could carry on for days about the wonderful people who attend these networking meetings! However, it might be easier to show you…

Mind, Body, and Surroundings…

black and white meOver the last week I have been thinking a lot about how our mind, body and surroundings effect how we work. For instance I cannot concentrate if I am in a bad mood, I ache, and the office is a tip… To even begin to try and write would be a futile and stressful experience. On the other hand though, if I am feeling positive, pain free, and everything around me is where I need it to be; I could lose an entire week to a project and not notice! So it begs the question… WHY?

I can’t speak for anyone else but I know the majority of the time my mind is running at a hundred miles an hour, just so it can keep up with story ideas, marketing ideas, deadlines, jobs, appointments and other important dates. I have, on several occasions been accused of not being able to ‘switch off’. If you too are like this I have one suggestion for you; music. It is such a calming influence on me; I don’t even need to pay attention to it. It is just there giving your sub-conscious mind something to focus on while you tap away on the computer.

Another thing I have found, very recently and most likely the cause for my train of thought is a type of Therapy called ‘EMMETT Therapy’, if you have any major aliments or pains from being sat at a desk for far too long then track down an EMMETT Therapist. It is non invasive and so relaxing, beyond that INSTANT Relief! It is a long term thing but if you are anything like me will feel the benefits right off the bat. I personally go to a place called Station Therapy in Hinckley which has an entire range of treatments from the EMMETT Therapy to Massage and Hypnotherapy if you are local I would suggest checking them out.

I could never understand the connection between my state of mind and surroundings. I always find they reflect one another, the better I feel the less chaos I live in. The less chaos I live in, the better I feel. Tapping into this I would suggest have your work space as you need it, not as others would deem it tidy. If your mind works better surrounded by loose paper then that is how your office should be! I have a working system which will look odd to others.

I personally believe in order for anyone to work efficiently they need their mind, body and surroundings in balance with one another. For those employing others that is making sure that their work force are happy, healthy and in good surroundings that work for them. For those who work for themselves the same applies but it is down to you to taylor it to your own needs. Take breaks, enjoy a social life, don’t ignore that nagging pain and make your work space work for you!
