Kenneth Belliveau

kenneth-g-belliveauAs Promised I have started the feature weeks with Kenneth Belliveau, a wonderfully talented and driven author with a twist. Kenneth also focus’s a lot on the realm of cinema (as we find out through the interview that follows.) Kenneth has many talents that has inspired me to go back and look back over some of my own reviews from back in the day.

So without any further a due, here is the interview with MR Kenneth Belliveau!

  1. Do you have any other passions other than writing? If so what are they and why?

My biggest passion other then writing is cinema. The reason I love cinema so much is because it is my get away. I watch these films and I completely immerse myself in the richness of their story and I forget about the world around me and I just watch these stories come to life.

  1. What made you want to write?

I always just liked telling stories from a young age, whether it be to make someone laugh or to get them thinking, I always just wanted to be the one telling a great story.

  1. Do you have a family; kids, husband/wife etc?

I have my parents and an older brother. I get a long really well with them, we are a close family and I love them dearly.

  1. If you could do anything else in the world would you do it?

I would love to be an undercover police officer. I don’t have the courage to do the work they do, but it would be a rewarding job.

  1. If you could go anywhere, where would it be?

I want to go Europe and see all the sights and sounds. Most notably Paris to see the Eiffel Tower at night. It looks really beautiful when it is all lit up.

  1. What would you say your favourite book is? And why?

My favourite Novel is probably Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane, even though it is a tough call. Shutter Island to me was the definition of a thriller and a book I just could not put down. I wanted to know what happened next because Lehane just built up the suspense to a point where putting it down even though it was 3 am was just impossible.

  1. Favourite TV show? And why?

Favourite Comedy is Arrested Development simply because all the jokes are well times and definitely well thought out. Each joke not only means something in a particular episode, but will be brought back over the course of a season. Favourite Drama is Breaking Bad. That show constantly left me breathless with it’s fine cinematography and amazing story telling. Bryan Cranston gave the best performance of the past decade, and it is a show that will be sadly missed and can never be replaced.

  1. Favourite Film? And why?

Blood Diamond, when I first watched it I was 16 and definitely still maturing as a person and I felt that it opened my eyes to many things I never knew before. The images were striking, and the film resonated with me. The story was fantastic and Leonardo DiCaprio helped solidify the poignant message of the film.

  1. Have you ever had a scary moment? If so would you mind sharing?

The scariest thing I have been a part of happened outside my apartment door, one time. There was a fight across the hall and someone was wearing a mask and had a baseball bat, luckily I was safe inside my locked apartment. It was a tense moment and the next few nights were definitely nerve racking.

  1. What are your dreams for life?

My biggest dream in life is to win an Academy Award for best Original Screenplay for a film that I would also direct. I mainly just want to find happiness and enjoy life and the journeys that come a long with it.

  1. Now, for a bit about your book…. How did you come up with the story idea?

I originally came up with the idea because I was going to write a short film about a journalist sent to cover a a nuclear explosion or radiation leak of some kind and as he was delivering the news he gets bitten by a zombie and that was the end. It was going to maybe a 10 minute short film.

  1. Has it changed or evolved over time?

It has evolved over time because I expanded the story to be about college journalists who get the story of a life time when they learn of a zombie outbreak. I have expanded the story to include more characters and more elements of horror and mystery.

  1. What is your book about?

It is about two college level Journalists, Aaron and Drew, they get word of an illness that is spreading and killing people which causes them to reanimate. They learn that the military is covering up a secret about the origins of the disease and so they set out to learn the truth even though they now face two threats.

  1. Is it out? If not when will it be released?

I am hoping for a summer 2014 release.

  1. Where can people find you?

People can find me on facebook. or on twitter @kennybelliveau. I also have a film and television blog on Tumblr called The Reel World Critic. I post reviews and news of the latest films and television series.

  1. And of course most importantly; where can people buy your book?

People will be able to by my book from the Nocturnal Press Website upon its release in summer of 2014, or they can order directly from me as well.
